The Understudy

A portal opens in the middle of the lobby one evening, and Amorette sees a young girl walk out of it.  The girl approaches Amorette who's immediately on her guard.  Sensing mistrust, the girl knocks Amorette unconscious and drags her through the portal.  When Amorette wakes, she finds herself in a Hylian villa, staring at the stranger and a woman who looks exactly like Adriana.  The stranger introduces herself as Danielle Miller.  She explains that Amorette is currently in Hyrule, approximately twenty years in the future, the same timeline Mia once visited.

Adriana and Danielle tell her that their Amorette, a knight for the Hylian government, has been knocked into a coma and it appears the weapon used to attack her was an Ebene dagger.  They need Amorette to take her place in an attempt to draw the attacker out.  Amorette is reluctant to help, but agrees, as she's the only one of the three who knows anything about the Ebene.  Just as she accepts, guests begin to arrive at the villa.  It seems that everyone is gathering to attend the birthday party of Mycene Miller.

Amorette is baffled by the differences between the people in this world and her friends back home, particularly the jovial Philip.  She stumbles through the party, held in North Castle, with the help of Danielle and Adriana.  In the middle of the party, however, trouble arrives in the form of a well known criminal called the Masked Phantom.  After pulling Amorette into a dance, he attempts to kill her, using an Ebene weapon.  He fails and uses Mycene as a shield to escape the castle unharmed.

Everyone is in a panic over Mycene's life.  They attempt to figure out a way to locate her and Amorette comes through, telling the alternate versions of the Fanel siblings about the Spell of Three.  With Amorette's help, they manage to perform the spell and locate Mycene in a back alley.  Danielle, Amorette, and Adriana immediately transport to her location.  Adriana bribes a shopkeeper and they quickly find the Masked Phantom's hide out.

The Masked Phantom has Mycene tied up and is threatening her with a Hind's Blood dagger.  He casually explains that he will exchange her for Amorette.  It is revealed that he was the one who attacked the original Amorette.  When the Phoenix Fighter shows no recognition, he grows frustrated before he suddenly realizes that she's not the person he thought she was.  He shocks everyone, announcing that she's a Phoenix Fighter.  When Danielle asks how he knows about the Phoenix Fighters, he declares that his mother was one.  From this, Amorette realizes that they are fighting against a grown version of Chandler, turned bitter by being sent away from his mother years ago.

Chandler starts to threaten Amorette, but he suddenly stops, frozen in place by a spell from Adriana.  The girls free Mycene and Adriana pulls her to safety.  As Mycene ties up Chandler, she tells Amorette that she must return to the Phoenix House and stop his mother from sending him away and turning him into a sociopath.  Amorette promises to do her best.  The two of them say their farewells and Amorette is returned to the past, to the Phoenix House.
