Late at night, Jake stumbles into the kitchen to find Kazuo rummaging through the supplies. He attempts to fend
off the Ebene king, even springing an acid trap. This merely annoys Kazuo, who, in a fit of anger, opens an interdimensional
portal and shoves Jake through. When Jake reaches the other side, he finds himself in the throne room of the royal palace
of Catalan. There, he sees several familiar faces living very different lives. It is the coronation of Prince
Aden and several key figures are in attendence; his wives Adriana and Deidre, his mage Amorette, and several friends.
One uninvited guest appears, Aden's cousin, Ewan, flocked by several dozen Andorians. He crashes the party, challenging
Aden's right to the throne. The Andorians take the party guests, including Philip and the Fanel siblings, hostage, locking
them away in the dungeon where their captain, Ewan's wife, Ariadne, stands guard. The royal family and Amorette are
locked in Aden's study to prepare for a trial. Jake is shuffled along with the prisoners. When he happens to overhear
Ewan telling Ariadne his plans to poison Aden and secure the crown, Jake pretends to need the bathroom. A young Andorian
named Lief is ordered to take Jake out to the outhouse. Along the way, they talk and Jake befriends his captor, but
halfway there, Jake manages to knock Lief unconscious and abandon him in the hallway, hoping to warn the royals.
Recalling a potion of Casey's that blocks out the Andorian sense of smell, Jake scrambles through the captive castle
to gather the ingredients, seeing it as his only way to get to the royals. He is joined by a rather reluctant Joey,
who has been sent by the PTB to return him home and restore the timeline. Together, they mix the potion and test it
out on one of the Andorian siblings. It works like a charm. Meanwhile, in the basement, Philip talks to Ariadne,
gaining her trust, though the two of them cannot explain their unusual attraction.
After hiding out in a closet overnight, Joey and Jake formulate a plan of attack. Using her mysterious powers,
Joey turns Jake invisible and sends him down to the basement where most of the Andorians are assembled. He sprays them
all with the scent cancelling potion, sending them into a panic. Meanwhile, Ariadne finds Ewan alone. She questions
his intentions regarding the prisoners. He is debating executing them, starting with Philip. Before she can respond,
her frightened Andorian siblings run to find him, telling him that someone has cancelled their sense of smell. The royals
are immediately suspected and Ewan leads his band to the stufy.
Ariadne slips away from the group and returns to the dungeon. She gives Philip the keys to open all the cells and
tells him to run away. After bonding with him, she leaves to join her family. Jake and Joey get to the study and
warn Aden of the murder plot.. Amorette affirms that this disqualifies Ewan's challenge for the throne. Aden is
the rightful king. At that moment, Ewan and his Andorians barge in. Amorette discredits them, but Ewan fights
back. Suddenly, Ariadne steps forward and affirms that not only did Ewan plan to kill Aden, but he also killed Aden's
father. Ewan prepares to take revenge on Ariadne and the others, but just then, Philip and the Fanels barge in, free
from the dungeon. Ewan is put out of commission and leaves in disgrace.
Jake is declared a hero, but the celebration is interrupted by the arrival of a late guest of the monarchy, Princess
Eileen of Shaldani. She apologizes profusely that her husband, one Jake Halberg, could not attend. Before Jake
can question Eileen about her husband, Joey tells him it's time to go home. He is sent back to the proper timeline,
deposited in the Phoenix House. Much to everyone's shock, however, Lief is also pulled in through the portal and is
now stranded in a different time.
