Carnival Games

Bored out of their minds, Ariadne and Philip are excited when Philip happens to stumble on a puzzle, lying discarded in the lobby.  They assemble it one quiet evening, but fear soon grips Ariadne's heart.  As soon as they put the pieces together, they discover not a picture, but a cryptic message written on it:  The second game is about to begin.  Immediately, a meeting is called and everyone examines the puzzle.  Their fears about the warning are quickly confirmed when Quinn appears.

He demands that Casey return to the shadow realm to be his bride.  When she refuses, he insists that she participate in a game to win her freedom.  She reluctantly agrees and is then forced to select seven other Phoenix Fighters to play.  Shawn insists on being picked and when Casey refuses him, he openly informs her that he will not speak with her again, thus revealing their secret relationship to everybody.  Casey makes her choices:  Philip, Adriana, Ariadne, Valero, Amorette, Inigo, and accidentally, Shawn.

Over the next few days, the players begin disappearing from the House, one by one, replaced with little game piece replicas.  The players find themselves in a "waiting area" that looks like a closed down indoor food stand.  When all eight are assembled, a doorway opens, leading them out to a dilapidated carnival.  There, Quinn informs them that they have until sunrise to collect three golden coins and return to the entrance, otherwise, Casey belongs to him.  He offers to give them one of the coins in exchange for a kiss.  Casey kisses him, much to Shawn's horror, and Quinn gives them the first coin.  The game begins.

Philip, Ariadne, Amorette, and Valero travel through a fun house, fighting against monsters from settings of Philip's past.  Despite some minor set backs, they finally make it to the final creature, a replica of War.  Amorette defeats him and a coin appears at her feet.  Meanwhile, Adriana, Casey, Shawn, and Inigo travel through a horrific mine shaft.  A cave in separates Casey from the others.  Quinn visits her, giving her one last chance to change her mind.  She reveals that she knows he is a Shadowman.  She says she will go with him, provided he wipes the memories of all her friends of her very existence.  Quinn says he can't, so Casey insists on continuing the game.  The caved in wall is cleared away by the others and they leave the mine with the second coin.

The two groups reunite.  In the nick of time, they place the coins in a slot by the door.  Reluctantly, Quinn is forced to let them go.  They leave the game on a mysterious train car, accompanied by a strange, hungry hissing noise that no one can identify.  Back at the House, Shawn and Casey are unable to speak to one another for several days.  Everyone else, meanwhile, gathers together to celebrate the wedding of Amorette and Valero.
