A Purpose in Life

Life in the House settles down with the return of Tranns.  Adriana calls a meeting to reorganize the command structure and in the process, makes the surprise announcement that she's lost her baby.  Everyone shares sympathy with her except for Krysta who abruptly declares that she's fallen in love with Aden and runs away.  Everyone is confused, but their confusion is interrupted by the cries of a young girl from outside.

Sito and Amorette follow the sounds and discover a six year old girl hiding behind a tree as an Ebene soldier battles with a strange Human.  They help the Human to defeat the footsoldier and he gratefully introduces himself as Mordred Barr and the girl as his daughter Rose.  Immediately, Sito recognizes Mordred as his mother's lover in an alternate timeline and Mia's stepfather with a history of less than honorable enterprises.

The frightened duo are taken back to the Phoenix House.  They earn great gratitude for revealing the location of an approaching column of footsoldiers, but immediately are held suspect by an untrusting Mia.  Ariadne speaks with Mordred alone, revealing that she knows him to be the fabeled Andorian savior known as the Prince of Fire.  He scoffs at her, sadly remarking that he has lost his destiny and is now nothing but a vagabond.  Rose, meanwhile, takes a liking to Sito and begins to follow him around the House.  As they talk, developing a friendship, Rose suddenly reveals that Mordred is not, in fact, her father.  Her father is Arion DeMilla, Sito's estranged father.

Sito confronts Mordred about it.  Mordred blandly admits that he kidnapped Rose and brought her to Shaldani, not to get revenge on Arion, but rather to exploit Rose's immortal mother who has the power to restore his purpose in life.  Sito and Amorette try to rescue Rose, but she refuses to leave Mordred.  Left with no other choice, the two of them, along with Ariadne, travel to Rose's home in Labrynna and meet with her mother, Rowan Summer.  She agrees to Mordred's demands and goes a step further, providing a generous donation to the Phoenix Fighters.

Sito tells Mordred that his demands have been met and that Rose is to be escorted to Hyrule, to her father.  Just then, Philip returns from a scouting trip with a young refugee orphan.  Mordred realizes that Rowan has given him a purpose through this child, who he adopts as his own.  Mia, seeing his great gentleness, manages to forgive the past, realizing that Mordred in her timeline was a man in pain.  In this world, he has a chance to start over.  When Sito and Ariadne take Rose home, Sito too is finally able to forgive his bumbling, drunken father, realizing that in this timeline, he's found the happiness he lost in the land of the Red Dragon.  Back in the House, love is turned upside down when Aden proposes to Adriana, while on the rooftop, Cecilia kisses Cirrus, only to be caught cheating.
