Young at Heart

A peaceful alone time between Philip and Ariadne on the roof is interrupted by a pestering War, who has taken on the Ebene name of Krieg. Following a brief verbal spar, a scuffle breaks out and eventually leads Krieg to electrocute Ariadne.  The shock starts her frozen heart beating for a few moments which causes her to instinctively kiss whoever was closest.  This turns out to be Krieg himself, which shocks all three of them. Krieg leaves in a hurry.

Angry and confused with the kiss, Krieg resolves to end Ariadne's life.  Knowing that the Powers That Be were somehow responsible for her immortality, Krieg breaks back into the Phoenix House and confronts Joey, rudely ordering her to get the PTB to come down and speak with him.  Only after Krieg physically threatens Joey does a representative named Eurydice appear before them.  A smug Krieg asks for Ariadne's immortality to be revoked, not really taking the situation seriously.  After some more pestering, Eurydice declares that he shall be punished for bothering the PTB, and Krieg receives a lightning bolt from above, forcing him to stumble away.  As he leaves the House, Eurydice warns Joey that he will return.  She is ordered to allow him to make the mistakes he has to make.  In the end, he will turn to Joey for help and Joey will be granted the power to heal him.  Eurydice then pays a visit to Philip.  She warns him that he must learn to contain his enormous jealousy when it comes to Ariadne.  When he asks what she means, she merely replies that Philip has never been the only one to love Ariadne.

Back at the Ebene stronghold, Krieg discovers that this "punishment" has actually turned him twenty years younger, and with a new swell of confidence (or brashness), he asks Kazuo for permission to attempt a single-man invasion of the Phoenix House. After some convincing, Kazuo agrees, though he declares that he doesn't want Krieg seriously hurting anyone.  Krieg quickly agrees, and even invites Kazuo to come along once he is done.

Krieg barges into the lobby of the Phoenix House and, after a flashy battle, traps the powerhouse that Philip is with an energy-draining net. Not caring for hurting anyone, Krieg physically and verbally attacks just about everyone, and even makes a few moves on Cecilia, much to the despair of Sito.  Krieg declares his control over the House and magically seals every exit with a high level of magic. 'He lets Kazuo in, then has a private dinner with Cecilia.

Krieg then spends a full day pacing through the House and doing whatever he pleases, though it doesn't amount to very much.  After having his ears talked off by an annoying Pipira, he decides to have a picnic in the basement with Adriana, Ariadne, Cecilia, and Mia.  The invitation is magically enforced and the picnic occurs in the locked basement.  The event itself proceeds with little more than a few lewd comments and apple pie, while Cecilia telepathically communicates with the men upstairs.  Aden leads the attempt to break down the door, cutting a deal with Kazuo to provide the Ebene leader with all the information they have about War's history and weaknesses in return for removing the madman from the House.  Filled with concern for the well being of Mia and Adriana, Kazuo agrees to help.

Caught off guard by an banana attack from Cecilia, the in the basement women attack Krieg and knock him unconscious.  He quickly recovers, fights back, kissing Ariadne a second time, but just as he is about to crush them against the basement wall, his age jumps down another ten years. A now crackly-voiced Krieg looks at himself in bewilderment as his magical locks fail and he is rushed by everyone in the House.  He seems more concerned over his age, as he calls Joey in and begs her to take away the curse.  She complies, dully noting that she cannot take back the one event that he hated the most: the kiss that occured on the rooftop. Still, Krieg's age is returned to normal, but his magic is temporarily turned into magician's jokes. An angry Kazuo steps in and slams him against the wall, promising a long jailtime for disobeying his strict orders.  As the Ebene collaborators leave, Cecilia and Sito lovingly reunite.  Philip and Ariadne recognize the future troubles that await for them in the wake of what's happened.  Aden and Adriana share an apple pie.
